Heriot-Watt University Library, Archive, Records Management and Museum Service and Centre for Sport and Exercise, present an exhibition and three walking tours as part of Edinburgh’s Festival of Libraries.

The Autumn Exhibition at the University Museum and Archive will run from Monday 10 November to Friday 14 November, and explores the history of two centuries of learning at Heriot-Watt University and the hidden history of its Edinburgh campus. The exhibition marks the launch of a new guide to the history of the University. This event also ties in to “Archive Awareness Campaign 2008 – ‘Take Your Place in History“. Visit the exhibition at Heriot-Watt University Museum and Archive, Mary Burton Centre, Level 1 Cameron Smail Library, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Three campus walking tours will take place during the week: a campus history walk on Monday 10 November, focussing on the historic landscape of the campus, an art walk on Wednesday 12 November highlighting art works around the campus featured in the University publication “Art and Academia: your guide to the Art Collection”, and ending in the University Library where further artworks are on display, and the 2 centuries of learning walk on Thursday 13 November exploring the remarkable history of two centuries of learning at Heriot-Watt University and celebrating the launch of a new guide to the history of the University.

All walks will begin at 12:30 p.m. leaving from the James Watt statue in front of the University main reception and will last approximately one hour. The walks are free, and no booking is necessary. So, get active and explore our historic campus.

More infromation is available on the many other events taking place around Edinburgh during Edinburgh’s Festival of Libraries. The Festival begins with the Edinburgh Libraries Fair on Saturday 8 November, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
